AFM Worksop v.1.6.0 beta

I recently tried version 1.6.0 beta of the software for the TTAFM, and had some problems with engage (it would start to engage then stop).

Later, I purchased a newer (faster) computer to run the TTAFM. I installed 1.5.5 via the installer, then added 1.5.8 and everything was ok. So I also added 1.6.0 beta, and it works fine. I have never seen on this computer the "failure to engage" issue I always have on the old one. I suppose that rather than the PC itself, it was the totally fresh install that fixed this issue. So if anyone else has this issue, a complete wipe and re-install might be the answer.

v1.6.0 looks great, lots of improvements!

Also, using a faster computer to run the AFM software (and leaving the video microscope software to the old PC to handle), makes everything run much more smoothly.

Forum: AFM Instrumentation

I recently found someone using the "Old" version 1.5.3. of the acquisition software (yes, you Jorge!). This is NOT recommended. In my opinion the version 1.5.8 is MUCH improved over that. If you do not have it, ask Paul for a copy. This version is a lot better, in tip approach, file saving, and also the frequency tuning is more accurate.
pete.

Forum: AFM Instrumentation

Opening TTAFM Files

There are lots of AFM programs which might be able to open files from the TTAFM (see this list), but a the moment, the files are text files, so opening them is not so simple. Gwyddion is the "recommended" program. I have a little procedure to open them with Gwyddion, and I am sharing it below. Let me know if there are any problems with this.
